Opened its first store in Albany in late 2023, 1981 Noodle House became one of the most popular authentic noodle places in Auckland, recognised by its on-point branding and tidy, spacious interior.
While 1981 Noodle House still offers an affordable hand-pulled noodle experience like many other competitors, their modern vibe enables the customers to visit more frequently.
Since opening its Newmarket store in May 2024, it has attracted many noodle lovers from all over Auckland. Being in a convenient location (right across Westfield Newmarket), it is a perfect place for people to grab lunch or dinner during their mall visit.
1981's iconic bright blue logo and lighting welcome you as you walk in - inside is cosy and modern but most importantly, designed to feel comfortable for the diners.
Just like the Albany store, you can see them hand-pulling noodles freshly through their open kitchen.
While you wait for the noodles to arrive, perhaps check out how they prepare and cook your noodles; you will be surprised how fast it is prepared - from hand-pulling noodles to garnishing the completed bowl.
For you first-time visitors, I highly recommend you try their Braised Beef Noodle Soup with "San Xi" noodle thickness (pictured above).
The beef broth is seasoned perfectly and packed with flavour - a generous amount of juicy beef pieces are served with of course, tender, perfectly cooked hand-pulled noodles. Every time I visit 1981 Noodle House, this is what I get and I never ever get sick of eating it.

These deep-fried rice cakes are perfect to end your meal here - it is super crispy on the outside and chewy inside. Glazed in brown sugar syrup with soybean flour sprinkle, it's quite amazing.
