The cafe and eatery scene in Grey Lynn has always been quite interesting - with lots of amazing cafes such as Bread & Butter and Ozone, to Tiger Burger, which is one of the most popular burger places in town. However, it is not the area you first think of when you think of dining out.
Recently however, Thaiger has opened in the area and it is a nice place to eat and drink with your mates.

As soon as you enter Thaiger, you will see a big tiger mural and lush green plant decorations. For me personally, the washed-out beige wall around the place amplifies the whole environment - it really sets the mood.
The colour combinations and soft lighting gives an elegant yet casual vibe - a perfect place for you to sit down and relax.

Thaiger focuses on offering delicious Thai food with a modern twist. Their dishes are not excessively decorated with flowers nor fancy like some fusion restaurants - the dishes look simple and straightforward, which is also a good thing.

Look at the GInger Fillet Beef above - all the ingredients can be seen - beef and broccoli are cooked perfectly and the sauce - is great.

Above: Sticky Chilli Ginger Pork Ribs - roasted slowly in the oven with house-made sauce.
Below: Pad Thai (chicken and prawn) and Lady Boy cocktail.
Pricing is very reasonable, especially the drinks; I can see myself drinking here with mates for hours.

Their curated menu offers a variety of dishes - from tender, juiciest meat dishes to your favourite curries... And also offers extensive vegan dishes, which are packed with flavour.

The team of chefs here have tens of years of experience cooking different Asian cuisines so they definitely know what they are doing.

Their iconic Thaiger (and the tiger) is easily seen - find them on 2 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021.
They are open every day from 5pm but Tuesday, which is the only day of closing.
And don't forget to check out their Instagram here.
