First opened its doors in November 2023, Ssam Jang is a new Korean restaurant and bar located on High Street in Auckland CBD.
Follow the stairs underground, you will see old-fashioned Korean vibes everywhere - from the vintage street signs to building design language.
Their main (and most popular) dishes are their ssams, which in Korean, means "to wrap (and eat)". A typical ssam will involve rice, meat (e.g. grilled pork belly) and ssamjang sauce, wrapped in fresh lettuce.
They offer a variety of single-portion ssam dishes which are perfect for lunch, or to be shared between a large group.
In addition, they offer other popular Korean dishes such as the army stew, seafood noodles and sashimi.
For you drinkers, Ssam Jang is one of the most affordable places to offer soju in Auckland CBD. In addition, they also offer delicious highball cocktails and honeycomb makgeolli (i.e. Korean rice wine).
They are open during both lunch and dinner so it's also a great place to have affordable, delicious Korean for lunch with your colleagues.
